I appreciate I have jumped in half way through the thread, but I heard this years ago (before webcams were invented) and it is very scary. I think althea is right on this one. I mean, you can "fall in love" with a car, too, or with a vacation spot, but that doesn't mean you're really in love. At the risk of being deeply analytic here, when people really do fall in love with girls (or guys) on these sites, it's mostly because they're completely unapproachable in real life and you'll never be turned down, because you'll never really take the chance of asking them out. If you do you cross over that creepy line into stalking, and no one wants that.

Of course you can fall in "love" with the performers. The real question is if the performers can fall in "love" with you or not. You have to understand that this is their occupation and that they likely wouldn't be doing what they are doing for free otherwise. You cannot generalize their feelings, though. Who are you or anybody other than their self to say what they feel? One's truth could easily be another's false. Falling in "love" can fill a void in your life whether your feelings are platonic or not. The 3 girls I knew personally who worked on webcams did it only for the cash. Where they live jobs for women are extremely low paid with very bad working conditions. I think you can fall in love everywhere, doesn't matter if it's porn site or candystore, but yes, on pornsite it's harder to believe thatit's possible.
