there is no such thing as a legitimate site that claims to be free but wants to harvest the extrememly private information on your credit card.
there is no such thing as a legitimate site that asks for this information unless you are one of the many stupid enough to ever engage in online purchases.
if something is free, it's free. no credit card, no email, no registration, no asking for names, locations, no money, no middle man, no conditions.
have a good day. |

True enough. Most "free" chat are basically promotions -- they want to get you interested and hope that you will buy. To make impulse purchases more likely they want your payment details up front.

Are there really things out there now that are free? The only thing I never had to pay for was advice and that's usually because it was wrong! I never give my ssn number out to anyone, not even printed on my personal checks, and if I'm asked, I refuse. That is the one thing left that I feel I still have control over. But then again some days I feel so old it's like my ssn must be 1 anyway! LOL |

I don't think there is anything really free in this world. I remember how my mom use to say that I still owed her for my nine months carrying charges!
What really burns me up is when you do a search on Yahoo, Google, etc. for something particular, ok, for an example, the other day I was looking for a specific piece of clip art that I needed. I put in the search area, Free clip art. It brought up thousands of pages of course, but I clicked on the first 5-6 thinking those would be my best bet, and yep, you guessed it, I found just what I was looking for but you had to pay for subscription to that site to do any downloads. Now how is THAT free? |

Webmasters who put "free" on their site when they don't have anything free to offer are fooling themselves, yes maybe they get a lot of visitors -- but those visitors want free stuff. So they aren't going to pay!

...so tell me something, when they get all of these visitors expecting free things
and then they find out they aren't getting a thing, how does that place get by with falsely advertising something that doesn't exist? |

The internet is still the wild west -- nobody is going to sue for false advertising, so peole will. Sorta sad really.

Boy, what a shame that people have the ability to rip others off right in broad daylight that way.
I think I'll stick with the honest approach, I would be the one they would start doing lawsuits on knowing my luck!
If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all. Ha! |

Yeah, but once the lawsuits start, it's going to be going like gang-busters. I can't tell you how many times I've done searches for things I've needed, graphics, etc. and I always put FREE in the first word of the search, then when you click on a link that even says it's free, you are suppose to put in enough information about yourself they could write a book, and then there is usually a cost involved, even if it's a minimal fee, there is still a fee. |
